China's national account system was in line with international standards, ensuring the country's macroeconomic figures are reliable, said Ning Jizhe, head of the National Bureau of Statistics, on Tuesday.

"China's GDP data are scientific, reliable and comparable with other economies, a fact that has been recognized by major international organizations, such as the United Nations and the World Bank," Ning said.

Ning said present and former directors of the UN's statistics division, to whom he has communicated with, think the quality of China's national account system is above the world average level, while economic statistical work with regard to the new economy is even ahead of major economies.

Ning made the remarks during an interview in the so-called "minister's passage" at the annual meetings of the national legislature and the top political advisory.

China has become a subscriber to the Special Data Dissemination Standards set by the IMF in 2015, which means China would from then on release macroeconomic data in accordance with this global benchmark.
