Ericsson develops its 5G platform, is set to launch new products

Swedish telecom company Ericsson said on Thursday that it has further developed its 5G platform and will launch seven new products to meet demand from customers around the world, including China.
The move comes as China targets the commercial deployment of 5G in the first half of 2020, with pre-commercial launches in the second half of this year.
"We want to make complicated 5G simple for users to use, and that's our original intention of launching such products," said Zhang Zhiwei, Ericsson Northeast Asia CMO.
The 5G platform is now fit for use in almost all scenarios and is embedded with increased artificial intelligence technologies, said Zhang.
Ericsson is currently working with all three operators in China – China Mobile, China Unicom and China Telecom – on commercializing 5G.
In June last year the company made the world's first multivendor, standalone, 5G interoperable call, partnering with China Mobile and Intel, marking another milestone toward the commercialization of 5G.
Fredrik Jejdling, executive vice-president and head of business area networks for Ericsson, said that the company is promoting commercial 5G networks in several countries, including the US and Australia.
