Oral documentary series "City Memory, 60 Years of Tongchuan and Me " issued online

An oral documentary series entitled "City Memory, 60 Years of Tongchuan and Me" was issued online for the first time on Dec 25 in Tongchuan, Shaanxi province in Northwest China, to strengthen cultural confidence and tell the Tongchuan story.

According to Li Jianxi, deputy director of the Publicity Department of the Party municipal committee of Tongchuan city, the oral documentaries have five episodes and five themes. They are "Tongchuan coal, lighting half China", "Yaoxian cement, for the construction of China's first nuclear explosion test site", "Yaozhoukiln, furnace fire lasting for 1,000 years", "The age of making Tongchuan an industrial city" and "The story of Red Town Zhaojin’s changes".

The series of oral documentaries are highly unified in historical materials, openness, academics and inheritance. It asks Tongchuan people to talk about Tongchuan affairs and their personal affairs. It reflects Tongchuan city's great changes, great development and great progress from the unique perspective of personal stories. It shows the brilliant achievements of Tongchuan city's reform and development in the past 60 years in an all-round and three-dimensional way, reflects the efforts and dreams of several generations of Tongchuan people, and vividly describes and displays the city's unique urban temperament.
“A person's memory reflects the experience and feelings of a period of history and a group's memory can weave a panorama of the changes of a city,” said Xu Xihua of the Tongchuan municipal committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, which made the documentary series.
Hu Xiaochun, secretary-general of the municipal committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, said that the series of oral documentaries of urban memory is a new form which tries to verify the the oral characters and the history of urban development, commemorating the development of the city and inheriting its spirit.
“It is another new exploration and attempt in the literature and history data work of the CPPCC Tongchuan municipal committee,” Hu said.
