The architect office was founded by Ma Qingyun, member of the American Architects Association, honorary Dean of the School of Architecture, University of Southern California, and member of the expert advisory panel of Xi'an City.
“Xi'an's rare development opportunities, better and better business environment and the feeling of homeland that cannot be abandoned attract me to return to my hometown and come to Beilin district to start my second-time entrepreneurship,” Ma said.
As a native of Xi'an, Ma was introduced to the city’s Beilin District in 2017 as a high-end talent after years of teaching at the School of Architecture, University of Southern California. After one year of planning, Ma and his team set up the architectural office in his hometown.
In Ma's view, Xi'an is an unique city, but the city design has not formed an open international design market, standardized construction process and a sound and complete engineering culture. He hoped that the newly established architects’ office would bring design resources and concepts home and abroad to Xi'an, serve the construction of beautiful countryside and characteristic towns, and contribute to the urban planning of Xi'an.
At the founding ceremony, Mada Siban Architecture Office signed to establish the joint studio with Xi'an Urban Planning and Design Institute and Shaanxi Jiangong Chanhe Enterprise Company.
The joint studio will gather resources and industrial forces from the University Of Southern California School Of Architecture, SOM Academy of Social Sciences, Jingzhao Wenchuang and other countries to form a master alliance, build a collaborative innovation platform, link multi-participants in the project, and achieve scale effect and efficient supply-demand matching.

Ma introduced that the platform is open, borderless and open to all resource owners and resource demanders. Openness can attract many forces to form a self-perfecting ecological system and a multilateral market platform on the same platform, which ultimately promotes the construction of Xi'an as an open design city and attracts innovative entrepreneurship from designers at home and abroad.
According to Lu Guangwen, head of Beilin District, his district provided policy, fund, resources and other support for the introduction of Ma and his team.
"Beilin District will strive to create better conditions, provide better service to support Ma Qingyun’s team to achieve more results in Beilin District and I hope Ma will introduce international resources and high-level talents and use design to empower the city, and I also hope that more outstanding talents will land in Xi'an and come to Beilin District for innovation and entrepreneurship," Lu said.
