People made 97.9 million domestic tourism trips during the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday in China, generating 43.5 billion yuan ($6.34 billion) in income, People's Daily reported on Tuesday.

Short-distance family trips made up most of the travel, and cultural and agricultural tourism were also popular during the holiday.

Holiday travel products with destinations and activities embodying heritage and innovation in traditional Chinese culture sold very well.

By end of day Sept 24, the national tourism market was observed to have run stably and no serious accidents had occurred.
