Turkey can overcome economic woes, China's FM says

China said on Friday that it believes Turkey has the ability to overcome temporary economic difficulties and hopes the relevant sides will resolve their differences through dialogue.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Lu Kang made the remarks in an online statement amid the slump of the Turkish lira against the US dollar, which has sparked widespread concern in the international community.
China is concerned with the recent developments in Turkey's economy and foreign relations, Lu said, adding that as an important emerging market economy, its stability and development is conductive to regional peace and stability.
In response to a financing cooperation agreement amounting to $3.8 billion between the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China and Turkey, he noted that China has always attached importance to bilateral trade and finance cooperation.
He said China supports enterprises from both countries to negotiate and sign deals on relevant projects in accordance with market principles.
