BiH party elects candidate for upcoming general elections

SARAJEVO - Bosnia and Herzegovina's (BiH) main Serb party, the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD), on Tuesday elected its leader Milorad Dodik as the candidate for member of BiH tripartite presidency at the upcoming general elections.
Dodik, the incumbent president of the Serb-dominated entity, Republika Srpska (RS), will run as a Serb candidate to become a member of BiH tripartite presidency, which represents the three major ethnic groups of Bosniaks, Serbs and Croats.
After the party's session, Dodik addressed members by saying that the priority of his politics in the future will be strengthening of RS, adding that the goal of the SNSD is to achieve a "historic result," under the unity of the people of RS.
BiH will hold general elections on Oct 7, 2018, the Central Election Commission announced earlier this month.
