Beijing has welcomed the plan announced by the United States and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea on having a bilateral meeting of their top leaders.
China welcomes the positive message issued by Washington and Pyongyang about their direct dialogue, Geng Shuang, foreign ministry spokesman, told a daily news briefing in Beijing on Friday.
Steps are being taken toward the resolution of the Korean Peninsula nuclear issue, Geng said.
"We fully endorse and support the relevant parties' dedication to resolving the issue through dialogue and consultation," Geng said.
The US President Donald Trump has agreed to meet DPRK's leader Kim Jong-un by May at Kim's invitation to achieve permanent denuclearization, Xinhua reported.
