Group wedding couples share romantic moment in Xiangmi Park

To the famous tune of composer Felix Mendelssohn's "Wedding March," - and amid the heady fragrance of roses - 20 couples in wedding gowns and suits had their special moment at Xiangmi Park.

There they took photos, exchanged rings and tied the knot under the witness of officiators, a chief witness, and friends and family members.

The couples who visited the park on Sept 23 were from different walks of life.

They included the builders of Xiangmi Park, environment-protection volunteers and soldiers who have contributed to Shenzhen's development in one way or another.

Guided by staff, the newlyweds walked slowly along the Huaxiang River, Huami River and Lianli Bridge, while posing for photographers to capture the unforgettable moments.

Blessings from friends and family members could be seen on stickers hanging from the trees.

To add a further touch of romance to the mass ceremony, many corners and wedding venues in the park were adorned with wedding decorations, flowers and plants, surrounding the couples with natural beauty.

A bridegroom from a government body in Futian district expressed his gratitude to the organizers, saying that he looked forward to the wedding ceremony and everything was perfect on the wedding day.

A bridegroom in military uniform said that he had previously been too busy to prepare for a wedding ceremony so it had been postponed to Sept 23.

Another bridegroom, Hao Siya, was also a builder of Xiangmi Park. He said by attending the group wedding ceremony, he hoped to begin his happy new life with an experience lifted up by the park's plants and flowers.

Guo Zhisheng, the officiator and head of the Futian District Urban Management Bureau, said, "When we first planned to build Xiangmi Park, we especially reserved a piece of land for the Wedding Hall, Rose Garden and Lianli Bridge to provide a venue for couples to hold their wedding ceremonies."

Luo Ping, the chief witness and president of the Futian District Women's Federation told the couples, "You are perfect for each other and I wish you a lifetime of happiness. "

The group wedding ceremony was organized by the Futian District Urban Management Bureau and the Futian District Women's Federation.

The organizers revealed that similar events will be held in Xiangmi Park in the future.
