Off-season open-air concert

Although the heat outside seems more conducive to pool parties than open-air live music shows, The Weekend, playing, unsurprisingly, next weekend at West Kowloon Cultural District (WKCD) sounds like a good enough excuse to get out of the air-conditioned interiors.

Over 70 indie music bands culled from all across Hong Kong will come together for a three-day open-air concert on the rolling greens along the harbor-front of WKCD. Co-hosted by The Sun Entertainment Concert and Wow and Flutter, the musical cavalcade will run simultaneously on four different stages, named after the geographical areas in Hong Kong.

Headlining the show are the local favorites such as the Cantonese hip-hop group LMF, Cantopop group RubberBand, the pop singing duo Anthony Wong and Tats Lau of Tat Ming Pair, the rock bands Modern Children and Phoon. Added attractions include art installations, a craft market, family-oriented activities and local food stands.

This could make for a good way to fill the gap until the open-air music season peaks in November.
