Belles at the ball

Fourteen young women from the United States, the United Kingdom, Italy, France, Germany, Spain, Poland and China turned out for the 2016 Shanghai International Debutante Ball on Jan 16. The event, which marks a woman's coming of age, was held at the Shanghai Peninsula Hotel and attracted not only those from high society, but also the daughters of celebrities and business leaders. The International Debutante Ball was founded in 1954, with the first ball held at the Plaza Hotel in New York City.
