Scooters aren't just for kids anymore. Urban Chinese are using them to whiz from place to place, and the elderly are riding them to enhance their mobility. They're useful for breaking through traffic jams and zooming to public transportation hubs. It helps commuters save money they would usually spend on cars or taxis. Some hospitals use them to accelerate efficiency of their staff members. Most can be folded up and easily carried. Battery-operated scooters cost from 1,500 to 4,000 yuan ($240 to 645) and can go 20 to 40 kilometers when fully charged.
