More than 10 ethnic groups live in the Tibet autonomous region. They not only follow ancient traditions, but also enjoy modern life. In July, China Daily photographer Kuang Linhua visited the region and captured some images.

Dawa Lhamo, 26, sits in a truck's cab in front of the Galung La Tunnel on the Zhamog-Medog Motorway. At the end of 2010, the tunnel was bored through Galung La Mountain, finally linking Medog county with the outside world.

Tsering Wangchuk, 19, a lama in Qamdo county, plays billiards in an outdoor parlor. Billiards is the most popular sport among Tibetans and lamas enjoy a game during their spare time.
