Nine days of events in Kenya will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the country and China.

The celebrations, beginning on September 20, will include an opening ceremony and two art performances presented by China National Acrobatic Troupe on Sept 21 and Sept 22 at Kenyatta International Convention Center in Nairobi, a China-Kenya media forum and exchange visits of journalists from the two countries.

China's State Council Information Office and Kenyan government departments are co-sponsoring the event.

Chinese President Xi Jinping and his Kenyan counterpart Uhuru Kenyatta agreed to co-organize the event during Kenyatta's recent visit to China.

A representative of the organizers said one aim was to promote China-Kenya cultural and people-to-people exchanges.

"We believe this event will be a great success through the joint efforts of both countries and make a significant milestone in the China-Kenya relationship."
