BEIJING: Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao met with foreign ambassadors on the eve of the 60th National Day Wednesday, asking them to actively promote friendly cooperation with China.

Wen welcomed the senior diplomats at the Great Hall of the People next to Tian'anmen Square, which has been ready for Thursday's celebrations such as military and civilian parade and an evening party.

Wen exchanged greetings and shook hands with the 44 newly arrived ambassadors and pledged the Chinese government would facilitate and support their work in China.
