1, The initial round of selection:
The judging panel of initial round will do the primary selection through about 20 thousand pieces of photos according to the rules of competition from May 6 to May 7, 2006. The Categories and Codes are as below:
Spot News (SN)
General News (GN)
Economic,Scientific and Technical News (ESTN)
Portraits (PO)
Daily Life (DL)
Sports (SP)
Arts & Entertainment News (AEN)
Nature & Environmental News (NEN)
2, The last round of selection:
The last selection will consist of selection on the spot, selection abroad and net friends vote.
Selection on the spot -- The judge panel consists of CNN, China Daily, Reuters, CNN and Beijing SJFQ Culture Communication Co Ltd. will do the primary selection through the photos entering the last selection. They will select 21 pieces of photos from each category. At last 168 photos will be selected. Then the judge panel will select a candidate for gold prize of each category from the 168 photos.
Selection abroad -- The judge panel in Beijing will send the 168 photos to 3 aboard members of the panel by E-mail. They will select a candidate for gold prize for each category and notice the Beijing judge panel by E-mail.
Net friends vote -- www.newsphoto.com.cn and www.photo898.com will publish the 168 photos on the website. Net friends will select a candidate for gold prize of each category by voting.
3, The generation of the awards:
The Organizing Committee of APPC will calculate the results accoring three sides. The final result will announce on the aisanewsphoto.com for ten days and accept the intendance from the society.
Judging Rules
1, All single pictures must have been shot from June 1,2005 to April 30,2006. At least one picture of the photo story must has been shot from June 1,2005 to April 30,2006.
2, Digital images should be submitted in its original form without any manipulation.All the pictures must obey the requirement of the vocational morality of the international Journalism photgraphy.
3, The theme of the Asia Press Photo Contest is "Changing Asia." Asia, as it develops, is fathoming its role in the tides of globalization. More Asian countries are redefining or rediscovering its identity. The pictures must be judged by the compositive level of news value, visual value and time-effectiveness.
