ISLAMABAD - Suspected United States drone Thursday evening fired two missiles against a compound in Pakistan's North Waziristan, killing at least three persons.

According to the private Duniya TV Channel, the drone targeted a house in Mirali area of North Waziristan, the largest tribal area that borders Afghanistan.

A correspondent told local media that the house targeted in the attack was a suspected hideout of militants.

This was the 49th drone attack that hit Pakistani bordering areas in 2010. Out of the total 49 drone attacks, 46 attacks were carried out in North Waziristan, killing 325 people. Only two attacks targeted South Waziristan and one Khyber Agency this year.

The US drones regularly hit hideouts of the militants in the Pakistani tribal region, which Washington considers as the center of Taliban and al-Qaeda remnants. Pakistan opposes the US strikes inside the country's tribal regions and seeks the drone technology. But the US does not accept Islamabad's request.
