TOKYO -- A strong and shallow earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.0 jolted Shizuoka Prefecture and its vicinity, including Tokyo, on Tuesday evening, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency.
The earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale rocked eastern Honshu, Japan at 13:31 GMT, the US Geological Survey said.
The epicenter, with a depth of one km, was initially determined to be at 35.322 degrees north latitude and 138.552 degrees east longitude.
No tsunami warning was issued, Kyodo news agency reported.
