Hu: APEC economy contributes to world development

YOKOHAMA, Japan -- Chinese President Hu Jintao said here Saturday that the emerging market economies in the Asia-Pacific region have made important contributions to the development of the world.

In a keynote speech at the CEO summit of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), President Hu said these emerging market economies would continue to provide great opportunities for the world development.

He also called on businessmen in the region to participate in China's reform and opening up process so as to share the fruits of China's prosperity.

The APEC CEO summit, one of the most important sessions of the business community, is the symbol of APEC public and private cooperation with an aim of contributing to the development of the Asia-Pacific.
