China and Russia to cooperate on regional stability

China and Russia have decided to enhance law enforcement and mutually support each other to maintain regional safety and stability, according to Chinese authorities on Tuesday.

The agreement was made at a China-Russia High-level Law Enforcement Security Cooperation Mechanism Meeting held in Beijing, where the two sides discussed their concerns and exchanged their views about issues involving counter-terrorism and law enforcement cooperation.

"Deepening judicial security cooperation between China and Russia has played a significant role for their comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership," said Meng Jianzhu, China's top law enforcement official.

He said the two countries have achieved fruitful results in terms of law enforcement, counter-terrorism, prosecution and administration of justice in the past two years, and hope to deepen their cooperation to a new level.

Russia expressed their willingness to work closely with China, then offered new contributions for safeguarding their security interests and regional stability.
