China's health reforms explained
Professor Wang Hufeng will give a lecture on Tuesday at an event presented by University College London's Department of Political Science. Wang, who is a founding director of the Health Reform and Development Center at Renmin University of China in Beijing, will speak about the nation's recent reforms of the health sector. In 2015, the central government introduced policies to promote the development of a new multi-tiered medical system. Four municipalities and 266 regional cities have been designated as pilot sites and are taking part in the program to build a system that incorporates GPs, community services, and hospitals. Previously, almost all medical care was conducted through hospitals. Wang's lecture will be held in the Council Room within The Rubin Building in Tavistock Square, London.
Live art event explores inclusiveness
The Centre for Chinese Contemporary Art is presenting Shen Xin: Originally Inclusive at its gallery on Thomas Street, Manchester, on Thursday. At the experimental live event, artist Shen Xin will explore the inclusiveness and exclusiveness of individual and collective understanding of origin, through a collaboration of art, science and performance. The production will feature three UK-based storytellers who have been morphed into hand-drawn abstract animations to deliver scripted passages about their origins and DNA. The artist, who was born in Chengdu, China, lives and works in London.
