Oxford forum eyes innovation, investment

The Oxford Sino-UK Innovation and Development Forum on Thursday in the Nissan Lecture Theatre within St Antony's College, Oxford, will be chaired by Professor Fu Xiaolan, director of Oxford's Technology and Management Centre for Development. Pan Jiaofeng, director-general of the Institutes of Science and Development at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Ian Walmsley, pro-vice-chancellor of Oxford University, will also attend. The day will feature several presentations from esteemed experts in the political, academic and business fields and a Q&A session with attendees.

Sheffield firming up links to China

The Confucius Institute at the University of Sheffield is hosting a seminar on Thursday, titled Business Gateway for China in the North. The new gateway is the result of a partnership between the University of Sheffield, Sheffield Chamber of Commerce, the local Confucius Institute and others. It will take place in the university's Diamond building, on Leavygreave Road, Sheffield.

Summit aimed at infrastructure funding

The China-Britain Business Council is hosting the High-Level Belt & Road Infrastructure Financing Summit: Matching UK and Chinese Expertise on Thursday at the Institute of Directors building on Pall Mall in London. The session will offer an opportunity for delegates to discuss China's infrastructure financing ambitions, particularly in relation to its Belt and Road Initiative and talk about the possibility of establishing a UK-China Infrastructure Alliance. The initiative is a development strategy and framework that champions connectivity and cooperation.
