New shows at contemporary art gallery

The Centre for Chinese Contemporary Art has unveiled three autumn exhibitions. Chen Yin-Ju's Extrastellar Evaluations II, Kirsty Harris's How I Learned to Stop Worrying (1945-2016) and Kuo I-Chen's Open Studio are displayed in separate galleries at the center, as is the ongoing Stanley Chow exhibition InStangram. Extrastellar Evaluations II is an audio-visual installation that is accompanied by objects, texts and drawings that continues Chen's probing of dystopia, conspiracy and art history. The Centre for Chinese Contemporary Art is on Thomas Street in Manchester.

Rare and ancient Chinese ceramics on display

The Oriental Ceramic Society is staging an exhibition of historic ceramic art between Thursday and Wed, Nov 9. China Without Dragons will be at Sotheby's New Bond Street showroom and feature around 200 pieces that are on loan from members of the society. Curator Regina Krahl describes the show as the most important event the society has staged during the past 45 years.

Experts advise on care of old photographs

Several experts in the care and preservation of old photographs will take part in a public discussion at the China Exchange on Friday. Preservation of Culture: Custodianship of 19th Century Photographs will take place at 32a Gerrard Street in London. The discussion is connected to the photography exhibition Life in Qing Dynasty Shanghai: The Photographs of William Saunders. Panel members for the discussion will include private collector Stephan Loewentheil (who owns the photographs on display), Phillip Prodger, head of the National Portrait Gallery's collection of photographs, and Richard Fattorini, a specialist in historical photographs from a top auction house.
