Artist brightens up the night
The Museums at Night festival that runs between Thursday and Saturday will include a contribution from Chinese-born visual artist Jin Aowen. The festival, which is organized by Brighton-based arts charity Culture24, sees museums and galleries open late into the evening to encourage people to see them in a new light. Jin is one of five artists contributing nighttime art. Her installation, which takes inspiration from a collection of ancient Chinese bronze artifacts, will use 900 kilograms of specially treated rice that will glow in the dark in reaction to UV light. The work will be displayed on Saturday at the Compton Verney Museum and Art Gallery, near Kineton in Warwickshire.
