UK educators spread message in Taiwan

Representatives from several British schools, learning institutions and related businesses are in Taiwan for the European Education Fair on Friday and Saturday. The two-day event, at the Taipei World Trade Center, offers a chance for educators and businesspeople to showcase their products and services and encourages students to continue their studies in Europe.

Chinese flavors feature at food fair

Several providers of Chinese food and Oriental cooking ingredients will take part in a food-tasting and cooking event in Dublin this weekend at the Croke Park Hotel on Jones Road.

Economist to discuss China's challenges

The University of London's School of Oriental and African Studies is presenting a free public lecture on "China's Economy: Powerhouse, Menace or the Next Japan?" The talk, by Arthur R. Kroeber, editor of online analysis platform China Economic Quarterly,will be held on Monday at the Brunei Gallery Room in Russell Square, London. Kroeber will discuss how China has risen to become the world's second-biggest economy and the largest trading nation during the past three decades. He will also consider the challenges ahead as it shifts toward a consumer-oriented economy and whether China is likely to continue to dominate the world economy.

World War I story moves to south coast

The Yellow Earth production company is presenting Song Unsung at the Theatre Royal in Plymouth on Saturday. The multimedia production, presented in four parts, celebrates the spirit and legacy of the 140,000 Chinese men who joined the Chinese Labour Corps during World War I. The Chinese workers toiled behind the Western Front for the British and French armies, and the play is part of commemorations marking the anniversary of the end of the war. The production performed to sell-out audiences at the China Exchange in London last month.
