The Australian Business Chamber launched the showcase of Australian Excellence Program in Shanghai on Thursday, which enables small and medium-sized Australian businesses to reach the Chinese market, leveraging more opportunities brought by the newly signed China-Australia Free Trade Agreement (ChAFTA).

Trade of food and beverage, skincare products, diet supplements, vocational education services andfinancial services may be boosted with the ABC's services in China, said Stephan Cartwright, Chief Executive Officer, Australian Business Chamber.

About 95 percent of enterprises in Australia are SMEs which employ seven million people, contributing a significant part to the country's economic growth, said Cartwright.

Bringing these SMEs' goods and services to China may help them to expand business in a fast growing market, said Cartwright.

Yu Ping, Vice Chairman of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade said that more exchanges between China and Australia are expected after the signing of ChAFTA, which promotes cross-border investment of capital and resources and benefits manufacturers and consumers from both countries.

The Australian Business Chamber will help the SMEs to expand sales channels in China by leveraging resources of free trade zones across China and cross-border e-commerce platforms, said Wei Xiaoya, China Country Manager, Australian Business Chamber.

The Chamber has already reached more than 30 cross-border e-commerce platforms in China for further partnerships, said Wei.
