SYDNEY - Job advertisements in Australia increased moderately in June, showing signs of recovery after falls in May and April, a survey released by ANZ Bank on Monday said.

The total number of Australian job advertisements on the Internet and in newspapers rose 3.7 percent in June, following a sharp 6.5 percent decline in May, the ANZ job advertisements survey showed.

Total job advertisements are now 9.8 percent higher than a year ago, but newspaper advertisements are down 11 percent, with Internet advertisements up 11 percent.

ANZ bank said the May fall reflected weaker economic conditions in non-mining sectors of the Australian economy.

"Anecdotal evidence from ANZ's business customers is beginning to indicate more limited hiring intentions due to mixed economic conditions," ANZ head of Australian economics and property research Ivan Colhoun said.

ANZ currently expects the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) to leave cash rates unchanged for the rest of 2011 and another interest rate rise from February 2012 onwards.

The last time the RBA raised the interest rate was in November 2010, when it went up from 4.5 percent to 4.75 percent.
