The Supreme Court says Antonio Marcos Pimenta Neves must serve his 15-year sentence after running out of appeals. The 73-year-old former journalist was convicted in 2006 but stayed free during numerous appeals.
Neves was the managing editor of the newspaper Estado de S. Paulo in 2000 when he shot 32-yeard-old Sandra Gomide to death. She was a former editor of the paper's business section who had ended their relationship shortly before she was slain.
Neves has surrendered himself to police following the ruling.
