Vietnam's swimmer wins 1st ticket to 2012 Olympics

HANOI - Hoang Quy Phuoc became the first swimmer of Vietnam to secure a ticket to the 2012 London Olympic Games after his good performance in the Malaysia Open Swimming Tournament.

According to the Vietnamese Youth Newspaper online on Tuesday, Phuoc finished the men's 100m butterfly in 53.56 seconds.

Phuoc's achievement is higher than the Standard B of 54.19 seconds required for the entries to the London Olympics.

With the record, Phuoc will also be qualified for the World Swimming Championships to be held in China in July, together with two team mates.
