TEHRAN - The Iranian top advisor to president, Seyyed-Mojtaba Samareh-Hashemi, said Wednesday that Iran proposes Istanbul as the venue for the next round of nuclear talks with the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany (G5+1), the official IRNA news agency reported.

"Iran emphasizes the continuation of talks with G5+1 in the framework of fair talks and mutual respect," Samareh-Hashemi told IRNA, adding that "Iran (also) emphasizes Istanbul to host the new round of talks."

"Iran emphasizes its proposal (on the venue), but it does not know about their (G5+ 1) proposal," he said on the sidelines of the cabinet meeting on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, Iran's chief nuclear negotiator Saeed Jalili welcomed talks with G5+1 based on common grounds and in a pressure- free atmosphere.
