ISLAMABAD -- At least five people were killed and another seven wounded Tuesday when a US drone fired missiles at a vehicle in Wana, the main town in South Waziristan tribal area in northwest Pakistan, local sources said.

One house was also destroyed in the strike. The identities of the deceased are not yet known, sources said.

It was the second drone strike in Pakistan's tribal belt along the Afghan border since US commandos killed Osama bin Laden last Monday in Abbottabad, 100 kilometers north of Islamabad.

On Friday, a US pilotless drone fired missiles at a seminary and a car in North Waziristan, killing at 13 persons and injuring four others.

Over 180 people have reportedly been killed in 27 strikes launched by the US drones since the beginning of this year.

The U.S drones regularly hit hideouts of the militants in the Pakistani tribal region, which Washington considers as the center of Taliban and al-Qaida remnants. Pakistan opposes the US strikes inside the country's tribal regions and seeks the drone technology. But the US does not accept Islamabad's request.
