MANILA - At least 1,000 passengers were stranded early Wednesday after their passenger vessel ran aground off Manila as it tried to head back to port due to big waves Tuesday night, local media reported.
Due to low tide, the vessel ran aground as it maneuvered back to port, local radio dzbb reported.
Two tugboats were sent to tow the passenger ship, but, the ship might remain there there until the arrival of high tide.
The vessel left Manila for Romblon and Masbate Tuesday night but it got struck in shallow water about two km off Pier 8. in Manila, the Philippine Coast Guard said.
