MOSCOW - A major Russian software producer says police have rescued the son of the company's owner who was kidnapped last week.
Kaspersky Lab, owned and managed by 45-year-old Evgeny Kaspersky, said Sunday that his 20-year-old son Ivan had been freed and no ransom had been paid.
Local media last week reported the kidnapping but Kaspersky would not confirm the reports at the time.
Kaspersky Lab said in a statement Sunday night that Russian intelligence took part in an operation to free the young man. The company said Ivan is unharmed and is in a safe location. His parents were not available for comment.
Kaspersky's business is a rare story of Russian global business success outside the energy sector. The Forbes magazine estimates his fortune at $800 million.
