SANTO DOMINGO - One person was killed and another 10 injured in the post-election violence in Haiti Thursday, a Haitian police spokesman said.

"Violence erupted several hours after the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) released the final election results," National Police spokesman Frantz Lerebours said, according to reports from the Haitian capital Port-au-Prince.

"We are in the process of bringing the situation under control," Lerebours said, adding the violence broke out as some Haitians were disappointed with the election results.

The CEP announced late Wednesday that Haiti's popular singer Michel Martelly had won a landslide victory with over 67 percent of the vote in the presidential run-off on the Caribbean island nation on March 20.
