HAVANA - Former Cuban leader Fidel Castro Monday urged the young members of the ruling Communist Party of Cuba (CCP) to adhere to the revolution principles while encouraging them to embrace the economic reform.

The younger generation of the party must "change without hesitation ...but without abandoning the revolutionary principles because there is no room for mistakes," Castro was quoted by state media outlets as saying.

The call was made when the ongoing CCP Sixth Congress Monday added final revisions to a host of economic reform proposals made by Fidel's brother and Cuba's current leader Raul Castro, who pressed reforms in his opening address to the congress on Saturday.

Fidel, 84, absent at all the sessions of the congress, called his brother's speech "important" and said he has been closely following the congress since the beginning.
