GAZA - A Palestinian ambulance crew evacuated a body of a Palestinian worker said to be killed by Israeli fire in northern Gaza Strip, a medical spokesman said Monday.
The spokesman said a group of workers were collecting gravel near an abandoned, former Jewish settlement when they came under Israeli fire, and according to witnesses, the worker was killed by a tank shell.
Israel forbids the Palestinians from entering a 300-meter-wide zone along Gaza's northern and eastern borders, however, pushed by the lack of construction material due to siege, many Palestinians risk their lives and go to dig for gravel in three settlements that Israel evacuated in 2005 in northern Gaza.
