According to the KCNA, Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK, said "the treacherous and anti-reunification moves for confrontation with fellow countrymen on the part of the South Korean authorities can never be tolerated."

Kim said the DPRK would continuously develop friendly and cooperative relations with those countries that foster ties with it in the idea of independence, peace and friendship and positively contribute to the process of global independence.

Kim's remarks were made at a national meeting celebrating the birthday of DPRK's top leader Kim Jong Il, who was born on Feb 16, 1942.
