MOSCOW - At least one person was killed and three others were missing as a Russian Tu-154 passenger jet exploded and caught fire after making an emergency landing in Siberia because of engine trouble Saturday, the RIA Novosti news agency reported.
Earlier reports said a Tu-134 plane with 130 passengers on board exploded after the emergency landing.
Rosaviation said the plane was taxiing for taking off when it caught fire. There were 116 passengers and eight crew members aboard the plane.
Rescue teams tried to evacuate passengers and the crew swiftly.
"Some people suffered burns, and preliminary findings indicate that one person was killed. The plane burned away," Rosaviation was quoted by the Interfax news agency as saying.
The plane was bound for Moscow's Domodedovo airport.
