Taliban claim 67 lives

KABUL - Seventy eight Taliban-led terrorist activities in the war-battered Afghanistan have claimed the lives of 67 people including 18 policemen and 12 Afghan civilians, spokesman of Interior Ministry Zamarai Bashari said Sunday.

"The anti-government militants have carried out 78 terrorist activities including roadside bombings and suicide attacks that left 18 policemen and 12 Afghan civilians dead," Bashari told reporters in a weekly press conference here.

He said 37 Taliban militants had also been killed during the period.

According to Bashari, police had also detained 121 insurgents during operations and raids all over the country over the mentioned period.

He said that 29 Afghan civilians, 24 Afghan police personnel and 13 militants sustained injuries over the past week.

"Sixty two roadside bombs and Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) had been discovered over the past week.

He also confirmed that 140 criminal incidents had been registered by police across the country over the past one week, adding the number shows four percent decrease in comparison with the previous week.
