The snow may further develop into sleet and rain later in the day that would cause dirty slush and slippery road after 03:00 pm Moscow time (1200 GMT) in the afternoon.

"There will be sleet and rain in the evening and throughout the night, and a minor drop in temperatures will make roads slippery on Friday morning," the Interfax news agency reported, citing the source.

On Thursday 3-8 mm of precipitation will fall in the daytime, and 4-9 mm at night.

"The total daily amount of precipitation may reach 20 mm, or a third of the December monthly precipitation norm of 56 mm," the source said.

Last month the Russian capital experienced warm temperatures with the first snowfall this winter occurred in the second half of November.
