Japan announces lineup of new Cabinet

TOKYO - Japanese Prime Minister Naoto Kan unveiled the roster of a fresh Japanese Cabinet early Friday afternoon, naming Seiji Maehara as new foreign minister.

The lineup was announced by Yoshito Sengoku, chief Cabinet secretary, who retained his post.

Defence Minister Toshimi Kitazawa, Financial Services Minister Shozaburo Jimi and Administrative Reform Minister Renho also stayed on.

The Japanese Prime Minister named new ministers in the portfolios including justice, trade, education, health, agriculture, tourism and consumer affairs.

The reshuffle came after Prime Minister Naoto Kan was re-elected in the DPJ's presidential election on Tuesday.

The new Cabinet members were scheduled to be sworn in by Emperor Akihito in the afternoon.
