SYDNEY - About 100 people have been evacuated and two streets closed after a gas leak in inner Sydney on Friday morning.

The rupture occurred at the corner of Abercrombie and Raglan streets in inner-city suburb of Darlington.

Both streets have been closed to traffic.

The gas leak has caused road closures and the evacuation of parts of Darlington.

A Fire Brigades spokesman said emergency services were at the site.

About 100 people have been evacuated from a church, a TAFE and houses nearby, the fire brigade said.

Gas companies and fire crews are working to disperse the vapour cloud.

It is not yet known what caused the rupture.
