JAKARTA - One person has been killed after mount Sinabung erupted in North Sumatra province of Indonesia earlier Sunday, spokesman of Disaster Management Agency Priyadi Kardono said here.

"We have got a report of a death in North Sumatra province," he told Xinhua by phone.

Mount Sinabung in Karo district erupted after midnight on Sunday, spewing hot ashes and white smokes.

Volcanology Agency recommended people living in the radius of six kilometers to be evacuated.

Over 10,000 people have been internally evacuated after the eruption, according to Secretary of the provincial administration Edy Sofyan.
