BEIJING: Chinese police Friday extradited a woman to Russia suspected of trafficking other women and forcing or enticing them into prostitution.

The suspect had been caught by police in Hefei, capital of east China's Anhui Province, and was flown out from the Beijing Capital International Airport on Friday at the request of Russian authorities, according to the Ministry of Public Security.

The suspect, a Russian national, had allegedly forced or enticed five kidnapped Russian women into prostitution in Hefei from August to September 2006.

The International Criminal Police Organization (ICPO) Russia Center Bureau formally sought assistance with the case from the China Center Bureau in June 2007.

The Russian Federation's general procuratorate made a request for the suspect's extradition on December 19, 2008. She was taken into custody in Hefei before the extradition in accordance with China's extradition law and Sino-Russia extradition agreements.
