TEGUCIGALPA - Both Mexico's and Chile's ambassadors Tuesday reassumed their posts in Honduras after their countries recognized the government of President Porfirio Lobo.
After last year's June 28 coup that ousted then President Manuel Zelaya, Mexico and Chile withdrew their diplomatic missions from Honduras in protest against the coup.
Over the weekend, the two countries announced they would normalize diplomatic ties with Honduras, followed by a report issued by the high-level commission of the Organization of American States (OAS) on the current situation in this Central American country.
The Honduran government has already requested Mexico and Chile to allow the restoration of Honduran ambassadors in the two countries.
