MANILA -- The death toll caused by Typhoon Conson has reached 23 as of early Thursday in the Philippines, said the National Disaster Coordinating Council (NDCC).
Initial statistics showed that as of 6 a.m. Thursday, 370 houses were destroyed and 2,904 others were damaged, and the economic loss that Conson brought to the Southeastern Asian country's infrastructure and agriculture amounted to 22.29 million pesos (US$481,633).
Weakening to a tropical storm after making its landfall on the Philippines late Tuesday, Conson is now out of the country, moving towards China's Hainan and Guangdong provinces.
