SANTIAGO - Chilean Health Minister Jaime Manalich said on Monday that 71 percent of the hospital network was damaged by the earthquake on February 27.
About 130 hospitals were damaged, he said.
While 51 hospitals are without problems, 54 others need minor repairs and eight hospitals need structural repairs, which will delay their services to the public, added the minister.
Manalich said among the 26,000 beds of the public sector in the country, 4,731 are now out of service.
One of the ways to recover at least 400 beds is "to buy them from the private sector," he said.
