South Korean President reshuffles cabinet
(Xinhua)
Updated: 2008-07-07 16:03 SEOUL-- South Korean President Lee Myung-bak Monday reshuffled the Cabinet, replacing three ministers, a presidential spokesman said. The president replaced the agriculture minister, the education minister and the minister for health and welfare, spokesman Lee Dong-Kwan said.
Jang Tae-pyoung, a former secretary general of a state anti-corruption panel, was designated as new minister of food, agriculture, forestry and fisheries in place of the outgoing minister Chung Woon-chan, the spokesman said. Jeon Jae-hee, a female lawmaker of the ruling Grand National Party, was nominated as new minister of health, welfare and family affairs, he added. The president also designated Supreme Court justice Kim Hwang-sik as new chief of the Board of Audit and Inspection. The reshuffle came nearly one month after the Cabinet offered on June 10 to resign over public criticism of a beef import deal with the United States. |
