Old couple aims to reproduce macaw species

Richard Frisius, 88, a US citizen living in Costa Rica, feeds a Blue and Yellow Macaw at a nursery of macaws in Alajuela 15 miles from San Jose February 15, 2008. The Frisius have dedicated themselves to the conservation and protection of macaws with the goal of reproducing these species in captivity to then liberate them in the forests of Costa Rica. According to the last census by the Ministry of Environment and Energy, in the Costa Rican Pacific only 800 scarlet macaw and 50 green macaw remain in the wild. [Agencies]
