MOSCOW - A Russian booster rocket launched a new military satellite Tuesday, officials said.

The Kosmos-3M rocket carrying a Kosmos-series military satellite blasted off successfully from the Plesetsk launch facility in northern Russia, said Vitaly Vyatkin, a spokesman for the Russian Space Forces.

He would not reveal any details of the satellite, which was to enter a designated orbit later Tuesday.
